Quality of Fabric
Everyone wants to know what is considered good and bad fabric. There are several tests that can be done in the fabric industry to test the abrasion resistance. One test is called the Wyzenbeek or Taber test. This test takes "a sample of fabric and rubes it back and forth with a cloth-covered or wire-screened covered roller several thousand times in both directions.” A rub forward and back is considered one rub, and 15,000 double rubs is considered “good” fabric. A fabric reaches its maximum rubs when it begins to show a break in the yarn. This is how fabric is rated. Some fabrics with high double rub ratings can be considered great for commercial use.
